Felt like the first time! To tell you honestly, I think it was more than 10 years ago since I last went there with my family. Of course, the main reason why we were there was to enjoy and as a kid: what does a zoo look like in real life? But this time, it was more than that. I was with my two favorite people (Bru and the best guy I’ll never have) and visiting Manila Zoo the second time around made me feel as if I was a child again (only that I was not fond enough anymore of unhealthy and lacking animals in their cages). A child with another child beside me (no, I am not a mother yet) who threw a handful of questions (kids these days are so curious!). Thanks to Ate Arriane (she sponsored us) and the I’M: Inspire Me team who helped us brought back our childhood days with a cause. Read More

There is something hopeful and magical about the Christmas air—this season is the only time of they year when even the most jaded, most cynical people actually believe that anything is possible. The streets are lined with colorful lights, Christmas carols are being played on the radio and by kids on the streets, and there is an extra bounce in people’s steps and a genuine smile on their faces.

The best guy I’ll never have will come with Bru and me next week for some event. And it is becoming easier to see him as a constant part of my life instead of just some guy or a new guy I am trying to be friends with. It is becoming easier to believe that he will always be here for me, that there is no due date looming over our heads. Kids. Games. Food. Gifts. Party. Chaos.

I arrived late at school due to the fact that the night before the party, I had to rush to the mall to buy gifts and prizes for my kids. The traffic was horrendous; I was in the road for two hours! Of course, when I went home, I still had to wrap them all up. I was all alone doing all those so I finished around 1:30 in the morning. I passed out in the morning and woke up so late! D: I know, I know, I just sucked at waking up so early when I slept late. (Thank God and my father for my curfew!)

My kids were jumping up and down, shouting “Teacher April is finally here!!!” It was my fault, I know, sorry little kiddos. We played games right after I put all my things and arranged them all on my table (which was by then full of gifts already from them to me). I felt like I lost my voice because I was competing to their high tone shrieks. Their noise was intolerable and I just let it that way. After all it was our Christmas party. Read More

[Love for Enemies] “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. — Matthew 5:43-45 (NIV)

My day is usually filled with lesson plan, chalk dust, class record, and meaningful brainstorming sessions with bright students. Random chat conversations with the best guy I will never have and Bru make most of my nights. I am April, welcome to my world.
